Sharing Templates for Mouthing Beyond Three

The best way to reach those we can support is through direct recommendation by other parents, family members and friends. The less we spend on social media ads, the more resources are there to support more families, and that is what really matters. Let's do this together! Be a part of our story, share with your network and get this to those families that need advice, support and simply to know that they are not alone in it.

Free Safety Training for Families - October 2025

Many neurodivergent, disabled or chronically ill children continue mouthing objects well beyond age 3, yet toy safety standards regulate only toys for babies in that way. Mouthing Beyond Three offers free training sessions this October for families navigating this challenge. Led by special educators and healthcare professionals, sessions cover toy assessment, material safety, and emergency responses. The project honours Lou Rawlinson, who tragically died after choking on a sensory toy at age 27. Sessions run October 7th (St Helens) and 14th (Liverpool), with remote access available. Free resources and ongoing support included.

Free Safety Training for Families - October 2025

Does your child still mouth toys and objects past age 3? You're not alone. Up to 60% of autistic children continue mouthing beyond "typical" ages, but toy safety regulations assume it stops at 36 months. This leaves many families without proper guidance.

FREE public events in October:

📍Tuesday 7th Oct - St Helens (10-11:30am)

📍 Tuesday 14th Oct - Liverpool (10-11:30am)

🏫 SENCO Email Template 📧

Dear [SENCO's name],

I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to share information about a free training opportunity that may benefit families in our school community.

Mouthing Beyond Three is a new safety initiative specifically designed for families of children who continue mouthing objects beyond the typical age of 3 years. As you know, many children with additional needs, including those with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and sensory processing differences, may continue this behaviour well into childhood and beyond.

The project addresses a critical gap: while toy safety regulations assume mouthing stops at 36 months, research shows up to 60% of autistic children continue these behaviours. This leaves many families without appropriate safety guidance.

FREE public events in October:

📍Tuesday 7th Oct - St Helens (10-11:30am)

📍 Tuesday 14th Oct - Liverpool (10-11:30am)

🖥️ There is also a remote option for those who cannot travel

Workshops are led by Dr Sara Mursic (ToyScope), Sarah Ryan (Mini First Aid) and a special guest, Andrea Buckley, whose adult son Lou died after choking on a sensory toy he'd used safely for years. Her story reminds us that vigilance matters at every age.

The project is funded by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

Toy safety is a dynamic process, rather than a single rule. Each child, family, space, toy and situation is different, so I am not teaching rules, but skills for making safety decisions in a moment. Join me in training your risk-aware eyes, supportive hands and trusting heart.
